The Volcanic Route
Leaving Reykjavik we head to Reykjanes peninsula where mid Atlantic ridge rises from the ocean with its volcanic and lava fields covering more than half of the peninsular. We will ride through lava landscape to Djupavatn-lake for lunch stop. On our ride we will see different shapes and sizes of cones and craters until we arrive at fishing village Grindavik for coffee stop and refreshment.
Tarmac and gravel road through the lava field to the oldest lighthouse in Iceland at the peninsular westpoint. From there you can see Eldey island, the home of the largest breeding colonies of the magnificent Northern Gannet. You can feel the forces of nature and hear the surf crashing at the beautiful basaltic cliffs. Lava road for 12 km until we arrive at Blue Lagoon for relax and optional massage in the Lagoon.
